My amazing husband took his LAST exam in graduate school today!!
(This is us all dressed up last week, for a Military Appreciation dinner at Rutgers)
After so many curve-balls, including an unexpected 8 month detour to Afghanistan, he was still able to complete his Masters with Thesis in just 18 months!
I can’t adequately explain to you how much work it took to get here. The hours he spent doing research in the lab, the homework and assignments and tests. Never mind the fact that he has been out of school for over 9 years and as you can imagine there was a lot of information that was new, had changed, or had been forgotten which needed to be learned or re-learned. To be honest, I barely understood what he was talking about half the time when he would try and explain it to me, but I can tell you it included plenty of big, complicated sounding words. And I consider myself a pretty smart person!!
(Here he is defending his thesis. This presentation was impressive, and he’s pretty easy on the eyes too if I do say so myself!)
Still the days and weeks seem to have flown by. Trying to cram all the necessary activities related to accomplishing this incredible goal at times seemed impossible to fit in to the hours and days. After all, it feels as if he only arrived home from Afghanistan yesterday most of the time!
I am so just unbelievably proud of this guy, I can’t even put it in to words. He has once again taken a seemingly insurmountable task and conquered it. Not with ease, (because it was no easy task!) but with his very exceptional qualities of perseverance, hard work, and determination.
I admire him more than words can say, and I can’t wait to see him graduate next week!
