He sets world record after eating 32,340 Big Macs in 50 years

An American has just celebrated the 50th anniversary of his daily consumption of Big Macs. Yes, yes, you read that right.

Indeed, at 68, Donald Gorske, originally from the town of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, has eaten a Big Mac at least once a day for half a century. Thus, he entered the prestigious Guinness World Records. For this very special occasion, this burger enthusiast and the McDonald’s chain did things big since he returned to the same restaurant where he had eaten his first Big Mac, it was in 1972.

He eats 32,340 Big Macs in 50 years

“At that point, I thought I was probably going to eat it for the rest of my life” he told Guinness World Records. Already in 1999, Donald Gorske had broken the previous record for the most Big Macs eaten in a lifetime, having devoured 15,490. the 30,000 mark. And for good reason, as you read these lines, it has already swallowed 32,340. read : “Congratulations Don on 50 years of Macs”. His portrait even hangs on the wall inside the restaurant he frequents religiously.

In 2004, Donald Gorske was featured in the documentary “Super Size Me” for his extraordinary burger eating routine. In this report, he said he always ordered a Coca-Cola with his Big Mac and rarely touched the fries. “I will probably eat Big Macs every day for the rest of my life” confided the gourmand to our British colleagues from Lad Bible.

A die-hard McDonald’s fan

Throughout his half-century love affair with the world leader in fast food, Donald Gorske has only missed eight days. To make up for lost time, he sometimes eats two of these burgers a day, claiming “When I like something, I stick with it all the time”. As proof of his unparalleled achievement and so that his record can be authenticated as he improves it, he keeps each of his receipts. Even better, the burger fan has a showcase in which he proudly displays boxes of McDonald’s burgers from several eras.
