Three children were “temporarily hospitalized” said the prefecture. Analyzes are in progress.

Collective food poisoning in the canteen of a school group in Châtenay-Malabry, in the Paris suburbs, affected 363 students and 20 adults this week, the Hauts-de-Seine prefecture said on Friday.

“As of May 19, 383 students were declared sick at primary and secondary level and among teachers and supervisors,” explains the prefecture in a press release.

Twenty-three were at the primary level and 340 at the secondary level.

Three children “punctually hospitalized”

Also according to the press release, all the sick people presented “digestive symptoms (nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea)”. Three children were “punctually hospitalized”.

The restoration was stopped this Friday, specifies the prefecture which adds that “analyzes are in progress (…), in connection with the provider of the canteen and the person in charge of the establishment, to determine the origin of the poisoning”.

The regional health agency (ARS) and the departmental directorate for the protection of populations (DDPP) intervened.

Contacted by AFP, the service provider in charge of the school canteen was not available on Friday evening.
